A REPUTABLE BOOKS REVIEW PUBLICATION
History Of Onibonoje Press And Book Industry
Onibonoje Press and Book Industry is a pioneering African indigenous publishing house with a rich legacy spanning over 60 years. As a family-owned business, we have been at the forefront of publishing, printing, and delivering quality educational services across Africa. Based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, we proudly continue our tradition of excellence from the heart of West Africa.
In 1958, while teaching in the Western Region of Nigeria, our founder recognized a critical gap—there were no textbooks available for the newly introduced modern school curriculum. Inspired by the late Mr. D.B. Oni, he took it upon himself to write and publish essential textbooks on subjects like history, geography, and civics. This initiative led to the creation of Onibonoje Press.
What started as a passion project quickly flourished. By May 1958, the demand for these books was so strong that he decided to turn it into a full-time business after graduating from the University of Ibadan in 1961. For over fifty years, Onibonoje Press proudly stood as the first and leading African publisher of educational and general books. After a lifetime of contribution to African education and publishing, our founder retired in March 2009 at the age of 79.
Today, Onibonoje Press continues to honor this legacy, dedicated to empowering future generations through quality publications.
